Apple releases iOS 12.4 Developer Beta 3

Another day (as usual, Tuesday), another developer beta released by Apple for iDevices. This time, however, tvOS, macOS or watchOS see no love as only iOS beta gets released.

Apple isn’t known for showcasing every change in their developer betas, or any at all really. iOS 12.4 Developer Beta 3 is no exception, but we didn’t expect much either. This update most likely only features bug fixes and patches, minor cosmetic changes if any at all and probably, absolutely no new features to be seen.

We expect this update to be preparing iOS devices for the upcoming Apple Card, thereby no new features to be seen with the naked eye without diving deeper into the system.

This is one of those boring updates right before WWDC19, where all we get is polishing of the previous version of iOS for the devices that won’t receive the upcoming major update, which is iOS 13 in this case.

We expect iOS 13 to be the biggest update to iOS since its revamp with iOS 7 in 2013. Features like dark mode have already leaked and even the redesigned reminders app has appeared.

Tune in for our WWDC19 coverage on the 1st of June, where you’ll get much more exciting updates. In the meantime, if you want to install this developer beta, you can follow our guide. While it’s for a different version of iOS, the steps are all the same. Also Read:Free Online Movie Streaming Sites in 2019

iPhone Sales Could ‘Halve’ in China Due to Chinese Patriotism, Warns Analyst

A new report by Citi claims that Apple iPhone sales could “halve” in the coming months due to Chinese patriotism. Chinese citizens are more likely to pick national, Chinese brands over American ones.

“The US/China trade situation will result in a slowdown of Apple iPhone demand in China as China residents shift their purchasing preference to China national brands,” Citi commented.

Apple products not only aren’t seen as that desirable anymore, but they’re also hurt by tariffs and sanctions that make manufacturing more expensive and ultimately leads to increased prices. Apple has been slowly moving their manufacturing to India to, but not exclusively, avoid some of the sanctions placed on Chinese imports to the US.

This causes a lot of trouble for Apple who is supplying parts from different regions of the world, including China and the US. The Trade War has caused a lot of emotional insult towards the average Chinese citizen, leading to the “informal Apple Boycott” in China.

China is a huge market for Apple, as pointed out by Citi, and losing it or its trust would be a gigantic blow to the Cupertino company:

“China represents 18% of Apple sales which we believe could be cut in half,”Sponsor ads:

WhatsApp Exploit Allowed Hackers to Install Spyware on Phones

WhatsApp has disclosed a vulnerability in its iOS and Android client which allowed hackers to install spyware on devices by exploiting a buffer overflow vulnerability in the WhatsApp VoIP stack.

The vulnerability was discovered by WhatsApp in early May. Hackers were able to remotely install spyware on a user device irrespective of whether they answered the call or not. Hackers used the exploit to install Israel’s NSO Group’s Pegasus spyware which is usually licensed and used by governments for investigation purposes and to acquire more information from their target.

Description: A buffer overflow vulnerability in WhatsApp VOIP stack allowed remote code execution via specially crafted series of SRTCP packets sent to a target phone number.

It is unclear as to how long this exploit was known by hackers and how many people were affected by it. WhatsApp, however, says that it expects only a limited number of users to be affected by it since carrying out the hack is relatively difficult and requires motivated hackers and actions.

Apart from rolling out app updates to patch the exploit, WhatsApp also made changes to its infrastructure to ensure the attack could not be carried out. However, the company strongly recommends users to update their WhatsApp to the latest version for the optimum protection.

Given that WhatsApp is used by millions of people on a daily basis to send billions of messages, it is important that the company discovers and patches such exploit as soon as possible. Also Read:10 Websites to Watch Indian Live Television

How to Right-Click on a Mac

If you recently switched from a Windows PC to a Mac, you may be wondering how to right-click in macOS. Apple mice and trackpads have never had a secondary button, but there are actually several ways you can right-click on Mac, giving you access to a plethora of contextual menus and options throughout Apple's desktop operating system.

If you connect a third-party mouse with two buttons to your Mac, macOS should automatically recognize the secondary button and map it to the system's right-click functions without you having to do anything. On the other hand, if you're using an Apple Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, or a MacBook's built-in trackpad, you can perform one of the following actions to gain equivalent right-click functionality.

Right-Click on a MacBook Trackpad or Magic Trackpad

macOS has a built-in preference for enabling right-clicking on a MacBook Trackpad or a Magic Trackpad. Follow these steps to enable secondary click on either device.

Click the Apple () menu in the upper left corner of your Mac's screen and select System Preferences....

Click the Trackpad icon in the preferences panel.

Click the Point & Click tab.

Click the checkbox next to Secondary click.

With Secondary click enabled, tapping the trackpad with two fingers at the same time performs a right-click action. If you click the chevron next to Click with two fingersyou'll also see additional options for clicking in the bottom left or right corners of your trackpad.

Right-click on a Magic Mouse

macOS has a built-in preference for enabling right-clicking on a Magic Mouse. Follow these steps to enable secondary click on Apple's input device.

Click the Apple () menu in the upper left corner of your Mac's screen and select System Preferences....

Click the Mouse icon in the preferences panel.

Click the Point & Click tab.

Click the checkbox next to Secondary click. The default option here is Click on right side, but you can change it to Click on left side if you prefer.
The Control-Click

In addition to the two preference options outlined above, macOS provides an alternative method of secondary clicking. Holding down the Control (Ctrl) key on your keyboard when you click a mouse button is the equivalent of a right-click on a two-button mouse.

The contextual menu that appears when you control-click a Mac's Desktop

The Control key performs the same modifying function when you press down on a MacBook's built-in trackpad or an Apple Magic Trackpad while holding the key down.
